Responsible for administrative support to the Media Relations and Marketing Communications functions, and to relieve Directors of Domestic and International Media Relations and VP of Integrated Marketing Services of administrative and clerical tasks.
Briefly what you’ll be doing:
Responsible for receiving and effectively handling written correspondence, telephone calls and emails from current and prospective partners, media, community sponsors, government agencies, vendors and creative agencies performing services for the departments, and internal customers.
Responsible for interacting with support staff across the association to assist with preparation for/coordination and planning of meetings, events, reports and presentations as needed.
Responsible for receiving and responding to Marketing Service project requests to support the Marketing Services team.
Communicate with appropriate diplomacy and sensitivity in both internal and external relations.
Perform routine assignments that require limited independent judgment.
Provide a wide variety of support services using Microsoft Office Suite and the San Francisco Travel Association’s internal database management program (EBMS). Answer telephone calls, emails when appropriate, prepare documents, reports, correspondence, presentations, marketing materials, expense reports and other reports as needed. This position will also include updating media and partner contacts in various distribution channels, tracking press clippings, and distributing press releases.
May provide cross-organizational on special projects that require additional administrative assistance, and may fill in for other administrative staff in emergencies.
Plan, organize and coordinate work effectively, and proactively recommend solutions when supervisors have competing needs for administrative support time.
Adapt readily to changes in work assignments and priorities within the department and organization at large.
Communicate with appropriate diplomacy and sensitivity in both internal and external relations.
Demonstrate team orientation and promote a positive culture of collegiality, accountability and continuous improvement.
Willing and able to master new administrative skills and to train new/less skilled administrative staff on computer programs or department systems and procedures.

Director, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Congresses & Exhibitions) Business Development

We are seeking a Director, MICE Business Development with a proven track record of exceeding customer expectations by creating and growing a compelling customer base by working with new and established accounts to achieve lead and booking room night goals and other goals as established.
Briefly what you’ll be doing:
Create and continually refine a comprehensive business development plan for the international MICE market, including annual budget and program of work, market strategies and tactics, and lead and booking room night goals.
Create and grow a compelling customer base by working with new and established accounts to achieve lead and booking room night goals and other goals as established.
Call on MICE decision-makers in target vertical and/or geographic markets, promoting San Francisco, Moscone Center, and/or member hotels a desirable option for MICE groups.
Work with SF Travel sales staff, international representation offices, hotel partners and other stakeholders to coordinate sales calls and action plans with target customers.
Ability to travel internationally as required to attend trade shows, lead/support sales missions and conduct sales calls (4+ international trips per year if based in the U.S.; possibly more if based in Europe or Asia).
Generate group meeting leads for internal sales partners, effectively and professionally managing the process to maximize booking conversion and assist with ongoing account management.
Create monthly sales status reports, apprising executive management of efforts and trends/issues affecting business.
Be an influential member of SF Travel with the ability to articulate key messages to staff, members and the Board if required.

Demonstrated ability to successfully identify potential MICE business, generate MICE leads from target customers, and book and/or work with other sales staff to book MICE business.

Ability to speak multiple languages strongly desired.
Experience developing and/or interpreting research to assist with execution of a business development plan.
Flexibility with work location; position can be based in San Francisco, Washington DC, or internationally depending on candidate preference and/or organizational assessment of work location’s impact on achieving goals.
5+ years international sales experience with a focus in MICE group business; experience identifying and booking citywide/convention center business a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in business, tourism/hospitality, international relations, or a similar educational field or equivalent work experience required; graduate degree a plus.
